TDR Account Migration to the APAC Cloud Region

Information
On 18 May 2020, TDR adds support for the WatchGuard Cloud APAC region. If you have a WatchGuard Cloud account in the APAC region, WatchGuard will migrate your TDR account and data from the TDR Europe region to the WatchGuard Cloud APAC region. This migration will occur automatically.

What happens during migration?

If you try to log in to the TDR Web UI during the migration, you will see a message that your account migration is in progress and that you cannot connect to your account until migration completes. TDR will continue to function and to provide protection during the migration.

After migration, when you log in to the TDR Web UI, you are automatically redirected to the Web UI hosted in the APAC region. We recommend that you update any saved bookmarks to point to the new URL.

What steps do I need to complete after migration?

After the automated migration finishes for your account, you must complete these manual steps:

Upgrade Host Sensors

To make sure that Host Sensors automatically redirect to the APAC region, you must upgrade any Host Sensors that run version 5.8.4 or lower to version 5.8.5 or higher. For more information, see TDR Host Sensor Manual Installation.

We strongly recommend that you upgrade your Host Sensors as soon as possible after migration. Host Sensors that run version 5.8.4 or lower after migration will continue to protect against ransomware, but will no longer detect and respond to other malicious events. You must upgrade the Host Sensors to version 5.8.5 or higher to maintain full protection.

Host Sensors that already run version 5.8.5 or higher automatically redirect to the APAC region and do not need to be upgraded.

Reconfigure AD Helper

After migration, you must reconfigure AD Helper to point to the new APAC region Cloud URL (tdr-adhh-ap.watchguard.com).

You must complete this step before you next use AD Helper. We recommend that you reconfigure AD Helper as soon as possible after migration.

To update the AD Helper Cloud URL:

  1. On the computer where you installed AD Helper, connect to the AD Helper Web UI at http://localhost:8080. The Active Directory Helper Web UI opens.
  2. In the AD Helper Web UI, select Configuration > Properties.
  3. In the Cloud URL text box, type tdr-adhh-ap.watchguard.com.
  4. Click Save.

The account properties are saved and the connection to your TDR account is tested automatically.
For more information on how to configure AD Helper, see Install and Configure AD Helper.

Upgrade your Firebox and Update your Feature Key

After migration, TDR automatically forwards all Firebox events from the Europe region to the APAC region.

To eliminate the additional delay this causes, upgrade your Firebox to Fireware v12.5.3 or higher. For more information, see Upgrade Fireware OS or WatchGuard System Manager.

You must upgrade your Firebox to Fireware v12.5.3 or higher by 31 January 2021. We recommend that you upgrade your Firebox as soon as possible after migration.

After you upgrade your Firebox, you must update your feature key to point to the APAC region.

To download the latest feature key for your device:

  1. In Fireware Web UI, select System > Feature Key.
  2. Click Get Feature Key.

Your feature key is downloaded from the WatchGuard website and installed on the device.

You can also manually retrieve the current feature key from the WatchGuard website and add it to your device. For more information, see Manually Add or Remove a Feature Key.

What happens to my data in the Europe TDR region after my account migrates to APAC?

30 days after the migration, WatchGuard will delete accounts and data from the Europe instance of TDR.
